Hair Needed to Mop Oil in Gulf Region
Rein-Aid wants hair to ship to the gulf ASAP. We have identified a wonderful not-for-profit organization that has set up emergency warehouses all along the gulf coast. They stuff nylon stockings with hair to create booms that mop up the oil.

Send us your horse hair if you need to clip for a show, pull a mane or trim a tail. If you groom or clip a dog, send us that. Ask you hair salon to give you their daily take of cut hair or ask them to contact us directly.

Any type of hair will work, but it must not contain debris or manure that could harm the volunteers stuffing the hair into the stockings.

Ladies we need your old nylons, any color and ladders are no problem. No amount of hair is too small as we will bundle all we get and ship it together.

Please mail your hair to:
Rein-Aid, Attn. Kim Keppick
P.O. Box 1268, Middleburg, VA 20118.

UPS/Fedex ship to:
Rein-Aid, Attn. Kim Keppick
3064 Lost Corner Rd, Rectortown, VA 20140.

If you are local to Middleburg and want to drop off your hair or have it picked up then please e-mail reinaid@earthlink.net or call 540 364 3668 ask for Kim.

2010 Poker Run Report

We had a good turnout at our Poker Run trail ride and camping demonstration at Northwest River Park Sunday, April 25th - 18 riders!  We felt this was great considering questionable weather.  SEAT members Tony and Lynda DeRossett from Suffolk called in the morning saying it was raining on their way, was it at the park.  Fortunately, rain held off all day at the park!  yeah!  :)  Fun was had by all!  After riders turned in their poker hands, many continued riding.  Trail obstacles were set up behind the bath house and several folks rode in the ring as well.

SEAT members joined together on 2 work days prior to the ride.  They did quite a bit of work on the trails, clearing limbs, and adding a little bit of trail here and there.  Members did some rerouting around some muddy areas on existing trails.  There's still plenty of trail work that can be done, but for 2 recent work days since 2008, we should be pleased with the trails.  Heavy rain all last year and this winter wrecked some right good havoc on the park's trails, but NWRP is moving forward with improvements and rangers have been very responsive to our suggestions and small requests.  They've got a few boy scouts working on some bridges.  There's talk of some new bridges as well as extending some existing ones.

SEAT members, don't forget to renew your membership at NWRP and encourage your horsey friends too.  THANK YOU to all the members that helped make our event a success - from cleaning trails, set up, marking trails, registration, food prep, and clean up ~ your efforts are much appreciated!!  Thank you to the members that set up for the camping demo - you were a great resource for those interested in learning to camp with their horses.
